“I knew thee when a fly landing on your leaf would shake thee to the very root”

As a shareholder you also have the right to pass on your Spring Wood Share to future generations. So that they, like you, will have a tranquil place to escape to; a place where wildlife abounds and isn't hunted, a place where they can pick woodland fruits; berries and nuts free from chemicals, a place where the real value of life can still be appreciated.

Carbon Neutral lifestyle. Each Spring Wood share also offsets 3.60 tonnes of carbon dioxide as a thank you for protecting the trees. A medium sized car (1.4-2.1 litre) that travels 12,000 miles per year, will produce approximately 3.60 tonnes of carbon dioxide per year. Six trees growing to maturity will soak up that carbon dioxide and restore carbon neutrality, giving you 12,000 miles of carbon neutral driving per share.

Woods for All don’t believe in using pesticides or any artificial fertilisers on our land or on the 14,000 trees that grow there, we believe that upholding organic principles is the best way forward, Oak, Ash, Cherry, Rowan, Birch, Whitebeam, Chestnut, Hazel Hawthorn, field Maple, Dogwood, Wild Service, Holly, Spindle, Crab Apple, Apple, Pear, Plum, Cherry and Nectarine all grow undisturbed in this sunny fertile valley. Many animals live in Spring Wood, and more visit to drink from the natural spring whose waters start their journey to the sea from there.

I almost called it Butterfly Wood, when I first visited in July 2006 there were thousands of butterflies fluttering like confetti all around me as I walked through the trees! Sadly, when I revisited in September 2006 most of them had moved on to pastures new, no doubt they will be back next year, but the wild plum tree over hanging the gate was festooned with fruit so I filled my pockets with the little sweet mauve plums and ate them as I walked through the wood. Maybe it's just me, but I don’t think you can call a wood 'Butterfly Wood' when it only has that many butterflies in it for one or two months of the year. Still, it was a beautiful sight and the icing on the cake.
